Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Named as Top 10 Pipeline for Fourth Consecutive Year by R&D Directions Magazine

January 22, 2008 - R&D Directions magazine has selected Wyeth as having the Best Women’s Health Pipeline as part of the magazine’s annual Top 10 Pipeline Report.

As part of its global R&D efforts, Wyeth is developing new medicines in several therapeutic categories specifically or predominantly affecting women, including osteoporosis, menopause, breast cancer and uterine fibroids, among others.

“Being honored as having a top 10 pipeline four years in a row is a testament to the efforts we have made to build a world-class pharmaceutical research organization,” says Robert R. Ruffolo, Jr., Ph.D., President, Wyeth Research, and Senior Vice President, Wyeth.  “Being recognized for our efforts in women’s health is particularly meaningful as we continue to build on four decades of experience to develop needed new therapies for women’s health care.”

Wyeth Team Recognized by White House With Prestigious National Medal of Technology for PREVNAR Vaccine

July 27, 2007 – A team of Wyeth scientists involved in the discovery, development, and commercialization of PREVNAR®, Pneumococcal 7-valent Conjugate Vaccine (Diphtheria CRM197 Protein), were awarded the 2005 National Medal of Technology by President George W. Bush at a White House ceremony. The National Medal of Technology is the nation’s highest honor for technological achievement. PREVNAR is the first and only vaccine available to help protect infants and toddlers against invasive pneumococcal disease caused by vaccine serotypes.

The Medal is given annually to individuals, teams, and companies for outstanding contributions to the nation’s economic, environmental, and social well-being and recognizes those who have made lasting contributions to America's standard of living and quality of life through technological innovation.  The members of the Wyeth team honored by the White House were Drs. Ronald Eby, Velupillai Puvanesarajah, and Dace Madore, and Ms. Maya Koster.

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Listed as the Best 10 Pipeline for the Third Consecutive Year by R&D Directions Magazine

January 29, 2007 – R&D Directions magazine has selected Wyeth as The Best Central Nervous System (CNS) Pipeline, as part of the magazine’s annual “Top 10 Pipeline Report.”

Currently, Wyeth has 19 compounds in the CNS drug pipeline under development as potential treatments for patients with neurological conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, Alzheimer disease, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and acute stroke.

“Wyeth is honored to be selected as having this year’s Best CNS pipeline by R&D Directions,” says Robert R.
