Wyeth Small Molecules Research

Wyeth R&D's traditional discovery strength has been with small (chemical) molecules. Our extensive chemical library is used as a starting point in the search for new medicines. Enabling technologies like High Throughput Screening (HTS) will allow Wyeth to conduct up to 50 annual campaigns evaluating the diverse compound collection of over a half-a-million compounds for the desired attributes of a drug candidate targeting a new and novel molecular mechanism.

Small molecule discovery efforts are carried out in our laboratories in Collegeville, PA; Princeton, NJ; Pearl River, NY; and Cambridge, MA. Preclinical development efforts necessary to facilitate movement of drug candidates into human testing are carried out at Wyeth's facilities in Collegeville, PA; Pearl River, NY; Rouses Point, NY; Montreal, Canada; Chazy, NY; and Gosport, UK.

Wyeth has a significant global clinical team to enable human testing of our candidate medicines. Based in Collegeville, PA, this global clinical team has infrastructure in North and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, China, Japan, Africa, and Australia [See Learn and Confirm]. Transforming efforts are underway within our clinical organization to efficiently move candidate medicines from development to registration and ultimately to the patients and doctors we serve.
