To realize this vision, over the past 7 years Wyeth Research has enabled a Research and Development (R&D) model. This model is designed to create a culture of performance by increasing project success rates while reducing project cycle times. Our ultimate goal is to deliver to patients and doctors 2 new medicines each year, meeting critical medical needs.

Over the past 7 years, performance against this model has yielded 90 new compounds entering development from discovery and over 70 new compounds entering first-in-human clinical trials. Key 2007 elements of the Wyeth R&D model include advancement of 15 new compounds and a new vaccine candidate to development, and entry of 12 new medicines into first-in-human clinical trials.
